Tamás Bereczki is a partner at BLB Legal, specializing in data protection, artificial intelligence (AI), information security, IT law, and cybersecurity legislation. Tamás holds degrees in law and computer science and engineering, and he also possesses internationally recognized certifications, including Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) – both from ISACA; Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) – from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He has extensive hands-on experience in both legal and IT domains, particularly in risk and controls and information security. With more than 15 years of experience, Tamás has designed internal control systems, developed non-functional data protection and security requirements, conducted risk assessments, managed complex regulatory compliance projects, advised multinational clients on cross-border data transfers, developed internal compliance solutions and management systems, designed controls for software to meet regulatory requirements, advised clients on compliant AI development, operation, and implementation, His work also covers privacy and information security management, risk management, data protection impact assessments, information security risk assessments, implementation and auditing of ISO/IEC 27001 and other privacy frameworks, incident and cybersecurity management, third-party risk management, cloud service risk management systems. 

 

Tamás regularly conducts internal investigations and audits, as well as technology, IT, data protection, and cybersecurity due diligence in M&A transactions. He frequently represents clients before Hungarian authorities and courts, especially in data protection and regulatory matters. He is well-versed in both EU-level data and cybersecurity legislation, international standards such as the ISO/IEC 27000 family (including ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701), and national frameworks like NIST 800-53 Rev. 5.

 

Tamás has deep industry-specific regulatory experience in the financial, pharmaceutical, automotive, and aviation sectors. His unique professional background in privacy and security was shaped through positions at regional and global banks, as an advisor at Deloitte, and as a specialized attorney in data protection, cyberlaw, and telecommunications at Baker McKenzie.

 

He is a frequent speaker at conferences and regularly publishes professional articles. He is also a co-chair of the IAPP’s KnowledgeNet Hungary’s chapter.
